Chapter 23: The Way Home After School The days of Tsutomu and Matsurika being treated like pariahs after the incident in the classroom didn’t last long. Although the combination of the top student and the school idol was eye-catching, the other students were more concerned about their upcoming exams than gossip. As the midterms approached, Tsutomu and Matsurika were gradually absorbed into the daily routine as part of the ordinary student scenery. And so, today, once again, the two of them were facing each other in the library, diligently studying for their exams. “…” Tsutomu raised his eyes from his notebook, careful not to be noticed. Gently, ever so gently, he raised them. He didn’t want anyone to notice. Matsurika, sitting opposite him, was groaning as she worked through the problems. It wouldn’t do her any good to offer help as soon as she seemed troubled. Think, think, think, and if she still couldn’t figure it out, then he would speak up. It was only right to observe her

Chapter 19: The Royal Academy   When Bergana told me, "Just ask Tubai about that," I started working on securing picture books to display in the store. Somehow, I now find myself standing in front of the gates of the Royal Academy, colloquially known as "the Academy," adjacent to the castle. When I tell the gatekeeper, "I'm here to deliver a letter from Merchant Berga to Mr. Tubai," he immediately lets me through, just like at the entrance to the noble district. Since the Academy is right next to the royal castle, I don't need a guide or escort, so I'm moving alone today. Perhaps because I'm wearing the store's uniform that resembles a light blue maid outfit, the gatekeeper seems to think I'm a servant delivering a letter and encourages me with a "Good luck!" The Academy is full of students wearing navy blue uniforms with red lines, making my light blue outfit stand out. Every time I pass by, I hear whispers li

Chapter 18: Not Enough Books   After finishing the inventory reorganization of the main store in the royal capital, which is set to reopen as "Rabbit’s Used Books store," we realized that we have an extremely small stock of picture books and entertainment books, which are meant to be our main products going forward. We didn't even have any picture books at all. So, Bergana taught me how to order books from the labyrinth's book management area. The method is surprisingly simple. Apparently, all you need to do is place a piece of paper on the floor of the used book warehouse with "200 children's picture books," "2000 adventure and entertainment books," and "500 romance novels" written on it. After waiting a day, those books will be stacked in the warehouse. However, Bergana has hardly ever ordered books before and just says, "It should work." I wonder if it'll be okay. I also asked where the books in the book man

Chapter 17: Kaien and Yoshua Again   It happened suddenly, throwing the female employees working at the main store in the royal capital into a panic. "Manager, it's terrible! There's a scary person glaring at us in front of the store, demanding to see Yuki!" Meel, I don't know who's come, but isn't that a bit rude to say suddenly? "Should we call the vigilante group?" Natalia calmly asked me. "Isn't Huey outside?" "Huey is outside, but he's just standing there with his eyes rolled back." "..." "Alright. I'll handle this for now. Everyone, feel free to run if it gets dangerous." "Do your best, Manager!" Encouraged by everyone, I opened the store door. Standing right in front of me was a familiar face. I remember seeing this man among the four general-like figures in the Abyss Labyrinth. His name was... "I am Kaien. You must be Yuki." "Ah, yes

Chapter 16: At the Adventurers' Street Store in the Eastern District   It's Yuki here. I'm currently in the bustling street known as "Adventurers' Street" in the eastern district of the royal capital. This area is always crowded with adventurers hoping to make money by hunting monsters in the publicly accessible part of the "Abyss Labyrinth," which serves as our base. There are numerous shops catering to adventurers, including weapon and armor stores, material shops, and apothecaries. The reason I'm here is to deliver a specific business order to one of our directly managed bookstores on Adventurers' Street. Although we call it a directly managed store, its operation is outsourced to White Trading Company. Normally, White Trading Company could issue the business order themselves, but I wanted to see the store with my own eyes. So when Mr. White informed me about starting this new business, I volunteered to convey the message perso

Site update! Moving Over to Foxaholic!

Hello! I started this blog because I wanted to branch out from making audiobooks of novels I translated. Eventually, I applied to Foxaholic under WebnovelsCafe ! I have been moving my chapters to that site and picking up new novels there. So what does this mean? 1. Countryside Vampire is going to be ported to the Foxaholic, however up to chapter 20 will be unlocked so you don't have to wait for the chapters you read to be rereleased.  2. Plant Monster Girl diary: I am slowly redoing the translations for it because previously the translations and the wording were done to avoid artifacts with the Text to Speech. Since I am moving away from that, I figured I should redo it and work on getting a better-quality translation. It hasn't been long but thank you for supporting this blog and I hope to see you support me in Foxaholic!

Chapter 15: The Heroes from 500 Years Ago ~ Memories ~   I don't remember when it started. I could see things invisible to others and talk to them. I don't remember my real name. I think my parents called me "that child" and were creeped out by me. My parents' attitude towards me clearly changed after my grandmother's death. My very kind grandmother died, and I said "No!" and pulled something back into her body as it was leaving. But the revived grandmother became something different from the kind grandmother she had been before. My parents and several villagers desperately tried to restrain the rampaging grandmother, but I never saw her after that. And not just my parents, but the villagers who were present at that time, their eyes when looking at me definitely changed. When I was about eight years old, I was sold by my parents in exchange for a bag of money to an old man who offered to take me in. I was taken to a small vill

Chapter 14: Now Hiring   It's Yuki here. Today is the day when everyone I've called to help clean up the books for the capital's main store renovation will gather. They're all from the orphanage, and everyone is supposed to meet in front of the store at the sound of the first bell at noon. So, I wake up with the morning bell and head to the commercial district. My first objective is to obtain passes for the orphanage children to freely move in and out of the warehouse district, as it's an important area where each merchant stores their goods. I successfully got the passes issued at the warehouse district office, but they told me some stories about our warehouse. Apparently, it's called the "Ghost Warehouse," with strange noises heard at night and sightings of ghost carriages being sucked into it. They probably told me this to scare me, but I have an idea of what's causing it, so I just stared at them blankly, creating an awkward a
